Game Jams

History of Game Jams

Game Jams have been a major part of my game creating journey, for 3 years I've been participating in game jams and loved every second of it.

A game jam is an event most commonly held online, where a theme is released to the public, the participants have 2-3 days to make a game based around the theme.

Since starting my interest in game jams, I have made 9 different games, each testing a new area of programming that I had previously left relatively untouched. All of these games can be found on my itch.io page.

Dungeon Disasters

Dungeon Disasters is a game made in a small team of 3 as part of Ludum Dare 49. The theme was "Unstable", so we made a game where you need to power up and kill the goblin king before the unstable dungeon collapses!

Since we participated in the Ludum Dare Jam, we could bring in pre-made systems. I brought in my Status Effects system and used it to easily make power-ups for the player.

This game jam refined our teamwork skills and showed us just how helpful modular tools are when making video games.

KEEP THE PARTY ALIVE, BABY!

KEEP THE PARTY ALIVE, BABY! was a game made for Ludum Dare 46 by myself. The theme was "Keep it alive" so I made a game where you have to run around your house party to make sure it doesn't fizzle out.

In this game, the player has to do many similar but slightly different tasks, so I learnt to make systems reusable and simple so they can be expanded easily.
